Padel kit made from plants

Most padel kit is made from polyester, nylon and elastane: plastics made from oil. We start somewhere else. Our current range is made from plant-based fibres and built to handle long matches, quick changes of direction and plenty of sweat. Here's exactly what goes into it, and where it's made.

Our fibres

TENCEL™ Lyocell

Made by Lenzing from wood pulp, sourced from FSC®-certified, sustainably managed forests. It's produced in a closed-loop process that recovers over 99% of the solvent used. On court, it's soft and breathable. It absorbs moisture and then releases it, so it stays comfortable against the skin through a long match.

SeaCell™

A lyocell fibre with seaweed added during production. It brings extra softness, with the same breathability and moisture management as lyocell.

Our Ashdown (women's) and Holmwood (men's) styles are made from 80% TENCEL™ Lyocell and 20% SeaCell.

Organic cotton

Coming in our next range. It's certified organic and grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, and we'll use it where a garment needs a little more structure.

Threads, labels and trims

Plastic-free fabric is only half the job if a garment is stitched together with polyester thread. Our current range is sewn with lyocell thread. Care labels are organic cotton, printed with OEKO-TEX® certified, water-based inks. Swing tags are FSC®-certified card on paper string, with a reusable stainless steel pin instead of a plastic tag fastener.

Packaging

Orders arrive in FSC®-certified kraft paper mailers, with garments in glassine bags. It's all bleach- and chlorine-free, with no plastic, and all of it can go in your paper recycling.

Where it's made

Every Underscored garment is made in Portugal by Érius, part of the Valérius Group: a vertically integrated textile business that handles knitting, dyeing, finishing, cutting and sewing in one place. Fabric offcuts aren't thrown away. They go to Valérius 360, the group's recycling facility, to be made into new yarn.

We can trace each product from raw fibre to finished garment. You can see the full supply chain on every product page.

Getting it to you

Because we make everything in Portugal, our stock travels to the UK by road, not air. From there, Evri delivers to your door. UK delivery and returns are free.

Made to last

Every garment is wear-tested and wash-tested before it goes on sale. Like all lyocell, it can shrink a little in the wash, so wash it cool, then give it a quick iron and hang it up, and it will return to shape. Look after it, and it'll see you through plenty of matches.

What we support

We're a member of 1% for the Planet, which means 1% of our sales goes to environmental organisations.
